1970 SS454 MONTE CARLO
This project was brought to us mostly disassembled other than the exterior panels. We inspected the fit and finish of all the panels before disassembling the car for media blasting. The car was removed from the frame, placed on a rotisserie, then sent out for blast. The frame was damaged, and our customer opted to go with a frame we had that had been blasted and powder coated.
Our customer is handling the frame and drivetrain portion of this resto while we focus on the body. Once back from blast we began the rust repair around the front and back window, then we moved on to some cowl rust. From there, we removed the old floor pan and installed a full one-piece pan. There were also misc. patches made to both inner rockers, under rear seat pan, as well as to the original floor braces.
We have removed the original trunk pan and are preparing to install a one-piece trunk pan with braces. The new one-piece trunk pan has been installed along with patches to the inner wheelhouses. The outer wheelhouses were completely replaced with modified Chevelle outer wheelhouses.
Next the quarters were replaced with N.O.S quarter panels. The doors have been media blasted and had some minor rust repair fished then sealed. We are currently working on finishing the underside of the car and shell in preparation to remount the body to the frame.
More updates coming soon.
